| Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has won the trust vote after a pro-democracy resolution was passed by the Pakistan National assembly. The main opposition, the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) led by Nawaz Sharif, walked out of the assembly.
"Parliament is supreme for this government. I would like to congratulate on this resolution being passed. You can't call this assembly a rubber stamp," Prime Minister Gilani said after winning the trust vote.
Mr Gilani will now appear in the Supreme Court on Thursday after receiving a contempt notice this morning. | |
