| The Indian markets opened with strong gains, with the BSE Sensex index pup 2 per cent and the 50-share NSE Nifty index hitting the 5,550 mark for the first time in 13 months Friday on the back of a global rally triggered by the US Federal Reserve decision to launch a third round of quantitative easing.
The government's decision to hike diesel prices has also cheered markets as investors have been concerned over the rising subsidy bill. | |
