| A trial court in Ahmedabad today ruled that Gujarat riot victim Zakia Jafri should be given a copy of the final report submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on the 2002 Gulbarg Society massacre within a month.
However, the court rejected the pleas of activist Teesta Setalvad and Mukul Sinha regarding access to copies of the SIT report.
Earlier on Monday, during the hearing of the case, the SIT had resisted sharing the report with Ms Setalvad but left it to the court to decide on whether it can be given to the main complainant Zakia Jafri. The petitioners had argued that after submission in court, the report is now a public document. | |
