| Reports are coming in from Jaipur that the police have said Salman Rushdie's video chat at the Jaipur Literary Festival cannot take place.
Protesters had gathered at the venue all afternoon, after organisers of the festival announced that Salman Rushdie would join the event via a video link from London.
Mr Rushdie was scheduled to join the literary festival at 3.45 pm from a studio in London. Sources in the police say that though the protesters were not many, there were concerns about repercussions in different parts of the city. | |
