| The Supreme Court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that was filed in the Supreme Court in support of the army chief, General VK Singh, who is battling the government over his age. The PIL was filed by an association of ex-army officers.
The court said, "In our view, the writ petition of this type filed at the behest of an association is not maintainable. We express no opinion on the merits."
The General has taken the government to court too. In a petition filed in the Supreme Court earlier this week, he has asked for an explanation of why his claim that he was born in 1952 and not 1950 has been rejected by the Ministry of Defence. | |
