| Chinese authorities have reportedly turned down the Indian government's request to the Yiwu Police to escort the detained traders to the Indian Consulate in Shanghai.
Sources say that the Indian government is planning to take this up and protest in a bigger way with the Chinese authorities.
The two Indian traders, Shyam Sunder Agarwal and Deepak Raheja, who are trapped in a hotel in China because of a dispute with Chinese businessmen have told NDTV they were "kidnapped" and assaulted by enraged Chinese traders.
The two Indian traders who are employees of a trading company are accused of owing their Chinese suppliers a reported 1 million dollars. | |
