| India made a triumphant start to the series after beating England by nine wickets in the first Test in Ahmedabad.
After bundling out England for 191 & 406, India achieved the winning target of 77 runs in just 15.3 overs. India had declared their first innings at 521/8.
Cheteshwar Pujara was the highest scorer with 247 runs (206* and 41* ). Alastair Cook made 176 runs.
For India, Pragyan Ojha picked nine wickets (5 & 4) while Umesh Yadav (1 & 3) and R Ashwin (3 &1) took four wickets each in the match.
For England, Graeme Swann picked six wickets (5 & 1). | |
