| In response to NDTV's investigation into charges of a quid pro quo and conflict of interest surrounding investments in his company from contractors, BJP President Nitin Gadkari has said he is open to any inquiry and that allegations against him are biased.
Ideal Road Builders (IRB) was awarded contracts when Mr Gadkari was Maharashtra's Public Works Department Minister (1995-99).
IRB invested in Mr Gadkari's Purti Group in 2001. In 2010, they gave a loan of Rs 155 crores to Mr Gadkari's company, which led to allegations of quid pro quo and conflict of interest.
The BJP president, unrepentant, says there is no conflict of interest in companies to whom he awarded contracts, investing in his firm. | |
