India beat Afghanistan by 23 runs in the opening match of Group A, played in Colombo.

Chasing 160 for a win, Afghanistan threatened to go the distance with knocks from Mohammad Nabi (31 off 17), Karim Sadiq (26 off 26) and Nawrox Mangal (22 off 18).

Yuvraj Singh and his three wickets though pulled the plug on the opposition.
