Six ministers from Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress handed their resignation letters to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi today.

The Trinamool Congress quit the Congress-led UPA government on Tuesday over the Centre's decisions to introduce Foreign Direct Investment in multi-brand retail, hike diesel prices and put a cap on subsidised LPG cylinders per household.

The Trinamool Congress, which has 19 MPs in Parliament, was an ally of the UPA government for over three years.
