| The Congress in West Bengal today officially withdrew its support to the West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress. All six Congress ministers in the state cabinet handed over their resignation letters to the Chief Minister before meeting Governor MK Narayanan to submit the letter withdrawing its support.
The move comes after the Trinamool Congress pulled out of the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre on Friday.
The Congress and Trinamool had a pre-poll alliance in West Bengal. The Congress, with 60 assembly seats, will now become the principle opposition party in the state. | |
