| In a huge damage to the Rajasthan government, the CBI has charged its former water resources minister Mahipal Maderna, along with another former Congress MLA Malkhan Singh, with abduction and conspiracy to murder Bhanwari Devi in its second chargesheet filed in a Jodhpur court today. They have also been charged with destruction of evidence.
The chargesheet is a 97-page document and was brought to the designated court by the CBI in two cartons and a big tin box full of paper. The CBI has examined 300 witnesses in the case.
Bhanwari Devi was reportedly blackmailing Mahipal Singh Maderna with a CD that showed them together. Mr Maderna was forced to resign after she disappeared. He was arrested along with Malkhan Singh, a Congress MLA who had an affair with Bhanwari before he introduced her to Mr Maderna. | |
